Easy steps for switching from AOL to Gmail

AOL is one of the pioneering names amongst internet service providers and offers a host of services including email, web portal and internet messaging, to name a few. With the passage of time, more and more people prefer to switch to Gmail from AOL, the reason being the speed issues with AOL internet. Moreover, you will not need to open a new program for accessing your email if already using internet. When you want to switch from using AOL to Gmail, it can be done easily by calling AOL customer service number. The other way is to try it by using some easy steps:
·         Start by visiting the Gmail page.
·         Set up an account by entering all the required information, followed by clicking to Gmail terms and services for creating an account.
·         Notify all the contacts you have on AOL that you will now be using Gmail.
After this, you have four methods, out of which you can choose the one which suits you the best:
Method 1: Mail Fetcher
1.       Begin by setting up Mail Fetcher in Gmail account. This feature comes free and enables you to download mails from a total of five different POP access supporting email accounts.
2.       Click gear icon placed on the upper right hand and choose Settings. Then open Accounts followed by Import tab. In ‘Check mail using POP3 section’, click ‘Add POP3 Email account’.
3.       Enter the email address of the account to be accessed and click ‘Next’. Sample settings will be populated by Gmail. It will also verify the server name and port by checking with the AOL server.
4.       Enter password.
5.       Decide whether you want to leave a copy of messages retrieved on the server, use secure connection during mail retrieval, label and archive the incoming messages.
6.       Finally click ‘Add Account’. Once done, you will be given the option to set the account as custom From address, after which you will be able to compose messages in Gmail, but these will appear as if sent from the other email account. Then click ‘Yes’.
Method 2: Auto Forward
1.       Start by logging in to AOL mail. You can set up an automatic forwarding in AOL to Gmail account for redirecting AOL mails to Gmail. Click ‘Settings’ icon on top right corner and then click the tab ‘Accounts and Import’. Choose the link ‘Add a POP3 mail account you own’ from the section ‘Check mail using POP3’.
2.       Now enter AOL address in the box ‘Email Address’, then select ‘Next Step’. Type AOL username and password. You have the option for applying label to email messages from AOL address. Click ‘Add Account’.
3.       Next choose if you want to reply with AOL address from Gmail and click ‘Next’. Decide whether AOL account is to be treated as alias or the mail has to be sent through Gmail or AOL servers.
4.       In the end, click ‘Send Verification’. Go to the AOL inbox and open up the mail from Google. A verification code comes in the mail which has to be copied and pasted in the given box. Choose ‘Verify’ to get the AOL mail at the new address subsequently.
Method 3: Export
1.       Reach the beta webmail page in AOL.
2.       Click ‘Contacts’ on the left hand bar.
3.       Click ‘Export’ which lies beside the ‘Find Contacts’ search bar. Export to a CSV file and then import it to Gmail account.
Method 4: Copy and Paste
1.       In the AOL account, copy all the email contacts and paste them in a single email. Address this mail to the Gmail address and send it.
2.       Choose the contacts from the mail, copy and paste them in the address book of the Gmail.
